Georgie PJ Fairley

Born in 1950…I learned music in school…as a drummer in the High School Marching Band…and have learned and played extensively with different types of music…beginning of course with my Father as a member of a three piece trio…playing Rythm and Blues in the late 60´s…

After school graduation I enlisted in the U.S. Navy…and played with a band aboard my ship…and also big band and jazz…I was influenced by philly Joe Jones…and Louie Bellson as jazz drummers…and along the way I discovered my liking of Rock music…it gave me the chance to play and think…I have always felt soul so Funk and R&B was never a problem for me…Rhythm was born in me so it was not a problem to find the groove…

Af ter my military time…I moved to California, and formed a band „Horizon“…that won the Battle of the Bands 2nd place award…which was the chance to perform as an opening act for a new Group…that group known as „Toto“…with the release of their first album „Hydra“…Having played for a few years by then I took the chance to learn from the master mr. Jeff Porcaro…learning about different time signatures…and different groove feels…that caused me to think…made me appreciate drums even more than just a back ground instrument…

After years of playing and learning…I moved to Germany…early 1980´s…and reformed the group „Horizon“ again…and became more involved in Rock music…over the years I have become a strong rock drummer playing Classic Rock, Fusion Rock…and even some Metal…I have been influenced by great drummers like David Garibaldi, (Tower of Power)…Steve Gadd, (Al Jarreau, Paul Simon, Wheather Report)…Bernard Purdy, (The Master groove maker)…Simon Phillips, (Toto, and his newest group)…Steve Smith, (Journey)…just to name a few influences…

As I am constantly on the search for New and better sounds…the main sound I have always looked for was in my snare drum…to be cutting, dominant, and warm…after hearing the Sempeternus Snare…I was hooked…I have played a variety of snare drums…but, this is above all the most dynamic, warm, and cutting snare drum I´ve ever played…you tune it and forget it…it sounds just like you want everytime…

I play Rock…and as a Rock drummer the snare is the drive of the music…with this snare drum I never have to worry, if the sound is right…I know it after a few strokes…and the tension never fails me…Sound engineers have said „Man that snare is nothing less than Hammer…they mic it…and hear it, and say its the easiest snare to mic, and bring out a great sound they have ever heard“…

Playing Rock is not just loud…it has to be full and warm…I have searched all over..and this is the weapon of choice for me…I play the Doga Classica…and have basically retired all other snare drums…I have a nice collection of Snare drums…but, this is now my go to instrument…for any type of music…from the smooth…to the Heavy…it performs great…every time…

Thanks Sergio for creating my dream…before I even realized I had that dream…my collegues, and friends are amazed about this instrument…Keep on Kicking Sergio…I love your work…
